Terms of Service
Riva Lighting Inc.
Effective date: July 14, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Riva Lighting Inc. website and your requests for estimates, bookings, lighting installations, and other electrical services. By using our website, submitting an inquiry, approving an estimate, or booking a service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Company Information
Riva Lighting Inc.
7050 Bell School Line

Phone: +1 (437) 545-5259

2. Services
Riva Lighting Inc. provides residential and commercial lighting and electrical services, which may include:
- Interior and exterior potlight installation
- LED strip and accent lighting
- Chandelier and fixture installation
- Smart switches, dimmers, and lighting controls
- Lighting upgrades and troubleshooting
- Other electrical services agreed upon in writing
The exact scope of each project will be described in the applicable written estimate, invoice, work order, or service agreement.
3. Estimates and Quotations
Estimates are based on the information, photographs, measurements, and site conditions available when the estimate is prepared.
Unless otherwise stated:
- Estimates are valid for 30 days.
- Pricing may change if material costs, labour requirements, site conditions, or the requested scope of work change.
- An estimate is not a final agreement until it is accepted by the customer and confirmed by Riva Lighting Inc.
- Additional work will not be completed without the customer’s approval, except where immediately necessary to address a safety concern.
Hidden wiring problems, damaged electrical boxes, inaccessible areas, structural obstacles, unsafe conditions, or deficiencies that could not reasonably be identified before work began may result in additional charges.
4. Customer Responsibilities
The customer agrees to:
- Provide accurate project and property information.
- Ensure that an authorized adult is available when required.
- Provide safe and reasonable access to the work area, electrical panel, attic, basement, and other necessary locations.
- Move or protect furniture, decorations, vehicles, and personal belongings unless otherwise agreed.
- Obtain condominium, landlord, property-management, or other approvals where applicable.
- Inform us about known electrical problems, asbestos, water damage, structural issues, or other hazards.
- Ensure that pets and children remain away from the work area.
Delays caused by restricted access, unsafe conditions, inaccurate information, or missing approvals may result in additional charges or rescheduling.
5. Electrical Permits and Inspections
Where a permit, notification, inspection, or approval is legally required, the responsibilities and associated fees will be identified in the estimate or work agreement.
Electrical installation services offered to the public in Ontario generally must be performed through an Electrical Safety Authority-licensed electrical contractor. Customers should ensure that the appropriate licence and inspection requirements are addressed for the work being completed.
6. Deposits and Payment
The payment schedule will be stated in the customer’s estimate or invoice. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Riva Lighting Inc. may require:
- A deposit before materials are ordered or the project is scheduled.
- Progress payments for larger projects.
- The remaining balance immediately upon completion.
Payments may be made using the methods listed on the invoice.
Overdue balances may be subject to reasonable collection costs and interest to the extent permitted by law. Materials supplied by Riva Lighting Inc. remain unpaid property until the applicable invoice is paid in full, subject to Ontario law.
7. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Customers should provide at least 48 hours’ notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
A cancellation or rescheduling charge may apply when:
- Insufficient notice is provided.
- Special-order materials have already been purchased.
- Workers have already travelled to the property.
- Access to the property is unavailable at the confirmed appointment time.
Special-order, customized, or non-returnable materials may not be refundable.
Any cancellation rights provided by applicable consumer-protection legislation remain unaffected. Ontario recommends that home-renovation agreements clearly describe the work, pricing, payment schedule, warranties, and cancellation terms.
8. Scheduling and Delays
Appointment dates and completion times are estimates unless expressly guaranteed in writing.
Work may be delayed because of:
- Weather conditions
- Material availability
- Supplier delays
- Permit or inspection requirements
- Unsafe working conditions
- Unforeseen electrical or structural issues
- Events outside our reasonable control
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant scheduling changes.
9. Changes to the Work
Any request that changes the original scope of work may require a revised estimate or written change order.
Changes may include:
- Additional lights or fixtures
- Different products or finishes
- Additional wiring
- Relocating electrical devices
- Repairing existing deficiencies
- Working in areas not included in the original estimate
The customer must approve additional costs before the changed work proceeds, except for urgent safety measures.
10. Products and Materials
Product photographs, samples, colour temperatures, finishes, brightness levels, and online images are provided for general reference. Appearance may vary because of manufacturing differences, room finishes, viewing devices, photography, and surrounding lighting.
Substitute products of reasonably comparable quality may be proposed if the selected product becomes unavailable. Substitutions require customer approval.
Customer-supplied fixtures and materials are installed at the customer’s risk. Riva Lighting Inc. is not responsible for manufacturer defects, missing components, incompatible products, or damage caused by defective customer-supplied materials.
11. Five-Year Lighting Warranty
Where expressly included in the estimate or invoice, qualifying lighting installations completed and supplied by Riva Lighting Inc. include a five-year workmanship and product warranty beginning on the installation date.
The warranty applies only to the original customer and original installation address unless otherwise agreed in writing.
The customer must:
- Notify us promptly after discovering a problem.
- Provide reasonable access for inspection.
- Allow Riva Lighting Inc. an opportunity to assess and correct covered work.
The warranty does not replace any rights the customer may have under applicable law.
Unless expressly included in writing, the warranty does not cover damage caused by unauthorized alterations, misuse, accidents, building movement, moisture intrusion, pest damage, power surges, third-party work, or problems originating outside the installed lighting system.
12. Existing Property Conditions
We will take reasonable care while completing the work. However, electrical installation may require drilling, cutting, accessing finished areas, moving insulation, or working near existing surfaces.
We are not responsible for:
- Pre-existing damage or defects
- Concealed structural or electrical problems
- Poorly installed existing wiring
- Normal minor marks associated with authorized installation work
- Paint matching, plaster repair, or decorative finishing unless included in writing
- Damage caused by inaccurate plans or information supplied by the customer
Any significant expected openings or repairs will be discussed when reasonably possible.
13. Safety
Riva Lighting Inc. may suspend or refuse work where conditions appear unsafe, unlawful, or outside the agreed scope.
Customers must not touch exposed wiring, remove safety barriers, operate unfinished equipment, or enter restricted work areas without permission.
14. Photographs and Project Media
We may request permission to photograph completed work for quality records, portfolios, social media, advertising, or our website.
We will not intentionally publish a customer’s name, exact address, licence plate, or other identifying information without permission. Customers may decline marketing photography before publication.
